Why we recommend running a podcast guest campaign for at least 6 months
Our half-yearly option is more than just a bulk discount. It's the minimum recommended time needed to determine whether or not podcast marketing works for you. It also gives us the time to run tests, present you in different ways, and test different strategies to see what works for your unique brand.
FAQs About Estimated Reach
Most frequent questions and answers
“Estimated reach” refers to the number of downloads per episode we estimate your interview will get on a particular podcast.
It refers to the collective downloads (or streams/listens) on all the main podcast distribution channels (e.g. Apple, Spotify, Deezer, Castbox, Stitcher, etc.)
It does not take social media into account whatsoever.
Our reach estimator algorithm is based on real data collected from actual podcasts. It’s correct (or pretty close) most of the time. But it remains exactly that – an estimation.
We do often verify reach by getting the actual download statistics from podcasts, in which case, we adjust numbers if needed.
Most of the time, our estimations are accurate but if you want to dispute the reach (i.e. downloads per episode) of a particular show we booked you on, we are happy to ask the podcast for their real stats and adjust the reach accordingly.
Most podcasts consider these stats private, but we will do everything within reason to acquire and verify the actual reach if disputed.
The stats that are given to podcasts by their hosting platforms generally include total downloads rather than unique downloads.
Our estimated reach algorithm is based on the statistics provided to podcasts by podcast hosting platforms.
When determining the estimated reach, we include only the expected downloads of your particular episode on all the main podcast distribution channels collectively.
This includes Apple, Spotify, Deezer, Castbox, Stitcher, and many more. Basically everywhere the main podcast hosting services (like Buzzsprout, Anchor, Podbean, Libsyn, etc.) distribute their podcasts to, and where they can track stats via the user dashboards.
Typically EXcluded platforms:
- YouTube
- SoundCloud
- Any social media streams such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.
- Any engagement or reach achieved through social media
Any download/stream/play for longer for 1 minute on a podcast episode is considered a play or a download.
However, statistically, 80% of listeners listen to all or most of every podcast episode they start. So you wouldn’t get many downloads on your episode that people start but don’t finish.
Absolutely not. The are so many variables at play when considering the best podcasts for you as a guest.
Reach, however, (in our experience) is just more quantifiable than the alternative.
